Founder of My Young Mind
As a former teacher and pastoral leader with over 15 years of experience, and now as a coach with a Master’s in Psychology, I’ve guided countless tweens (and their parents!) through this exact transition.
I understand the unique emotional journey of Year 6 to 7 – from the nerves about new friendships to the overwhelm of a new timetable.
I'm here to ensure your child feels truly ready, resilient, and excited for their confident leap into secondary school.
Laura, Mother of 11 year old Millie
“My daughter was so anxious. Jo quickly taught her how to calm her nerves and believe in herself.
Seeing her walk into Year 7 excited, not overwhelmed was priceless."
Sarah Mother of 11 year old William
"For my son, who is neurodiverse, the thought of Year 7 was incredibly overwhelming. Jo truly saw him.
He gained insights into managing new situations and social interactions, making his transition much calmer and more confident."

The consultation call is a free, no-obligation 20-minute online session. You and your child both attend, making it a shared opportunity to discuss your specific needs for your child, understand how the program works, and determine if it's the right fit for your family.
This coaching program provides your child with tools to handle new social situations, manage academic expectations, and navigate online safety. It also focuses on building emotional resilience and a positive mindset, helping them view the transition as an exciting adventure rather than a daunting challenge.
Yes, the coaching program is tailored to meet the unique needs of each child, including those who are neurodivergent. The approach is flexible and supportive, ensuring that every child feels seen, heard, and understood.
All sessions are held online and can include both the child and the parent or just the child. The program begins with 3-hours of 1:1 coaching, and many families choose to continue with an additional 3 hours for ongoing support as school starts - though this is entirely your choice.
