Frequently asked questions

Your questions answered

Who is My Young Mind School for?

Our school is designed for students aged 11–16 who experience anxiety, school refusal, or emotional overwhelm in traditional school settings. We also welcome students with SEND needs, including those with EHCPs, who would benefit from smaller classes and a therapeutic approach to learning.

What makes My Young Mind School different from other online schools?

We combine academic learning and psychological wellbeing. Every student learns core subjects (English, Maths, and Science) in small classes with wellbeing-informed teachers, and receives individualised support from qualified Mental Wellbeing Practitioners.

Do you support students with EHCPs or SEND needs?

Yes — we do. Our teachers and Mental Wellbeing Practitioners are experienced in working with students with a range of needs, including anxiety, autism, ADHD, and sensory or emotional regulation challenges. We can collaborate with your local authority or existing school to ensure the provision outlined in your child’s EHCP is supported as closely as possible.

What is your curriculum?

Academic curriculum

-2 English, 2 Maths, and 2 Science lessons each week

-Retrieval of Knowledge quizzes each week, set by their subject teachers to consolidate learning

-Whole school assembly on Monday morning.

Pastoral curriculum

-Fortnightly 1:1 wellbeing sessions

-Access to the My Young Mind Online Wellbeing Program via our learning platform

This structure balances academic progress with emotional recovery and confidence building.

How will my child’s progress be tracked?

We track both academic and emotional progress. Parents receive a termly report with updates from teachers and wellbeing staff, celebrating growth and identifying next steps. We also encourage ongoing communication between families and staff — you’ll always know how your child is doing.

Can my child enrol mid-term or partway through the year?

Yes. We know that many families find us after a difficult school experience, so we accept enrollments at various points in the year where space allows.
If your child joins mid-term, our team will create a gentle transition plan to help them settle in and catch up with confidence.

Fees will be based on entry point.

What technology or equipment do we need?

You’ll need:

A laptop or computer with a webcam and microphone

A stable internet connection (at least 10 Mbps recommended)

A quiet learning space at home

We’ll provide full setup guidance during enrolment and ongoing tech support to ensure your child’s experience is smooth and stress-free

Do you provide exam entry?

At this stage, we don’t offer exam entry. As a new online school, our priority in our founding year is supporting students’ emotional wellbeing and academic recovery. Exam entries can be arranged privately by parents or carers.

What are your fees?

Our fees are:

£750 per half term

£1,300 per full term

£3,705 per year

We also offer a one-week trial for £150, giving families the chance to experience our flexible, therapeutic approach before committing longer term.

From the Autumn term 2026, our fees will be:

£1,100 per half term

£2,000 per full term

£5,700 per year

The increase in fees reflects the continued growth and development of My Young Mind School. They include a wider range of subjects, a more interactive learning platform, and weekly group wellbeing sessions that help students feel connected and supported. We’re also introducing parental wellbeing support, physical trips, and additional opportunities for personal growth and community connection.

What is your withdrawal and refund policy?

We ask for six week’s written notice before the next billing period if you wish to withdraw.
This helps us adjust staffing and support plans appropriately.
If your child leaves mid-term due to unforeseen circumstances, we review each case with compassion and aim to handle transitions smoothly.

What is your online safety policy?

We use a secure, password protected, online learning platform. We only allow our students to access the classrooms. We also have a robust behaviour policy which can be viewed on our policy page.
